Nancy's Skillet Burgers - GF

Thank goodness a dish that everybody in the house can eat and it can be served many ways. The only thing missing is a name for this simple skillet dinner.  Some might call it, Sloppy Joes…that would be from my childhood.  My sister calls it, Skillet Burgers, and so it became... "Nancy's Skillet Burgers".

Nancy's Skillet Burgers                  Serves 4 (or 3 large portions)
1 lb lean ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1cup chopped celery
1 1/2 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
1 1/2 tsp minced garlic
1 cup tomato sauce
1/2 cup water
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tsp worcestershire sauce
burger buns, gluten free or regular

In a skillet brown ground beef. Drain if necessary. Add back to skillet with chopped onion, celery and garlic. Cook a few minutes then add mushrooms. Let cook a couple minutes, then add all other ingredients. Simmer without a lid for 20-30 minutes. Wow! That was easy!

Serve on toasted buns, rolls (gluten free if needed) or with rice. My son even likes this in a crunchy taco shell.  Left overs disappear quickly. I like to make a double batch and freeze half for a quick dinner or lunch another time. I hope you enjoy this quick, delicious dish.
