Sugar Cookies For Any Occasion

Hands down....best sugar cookies you will ever eat!

I came across this recipe years ago and have never made another recipe since (except for my gluten free of course)

There are two ingredients in this recipe that I think make them so amazing. Almond extract and powdered sugar. The photo shows them as a sandwich cookie. Add frosting to the top and some sprinkles or decorate according to shapes.  Roll out a little thicker cookie and frost tops only. Make a double batch because they won't last long!

Try dipping them in chocolate for a festive look.

Sugar Cookies For Any Occasion
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
sprinkles and frosting

In a medium bowl add sugar, butter, egg, vanilla, and almond extract. Beat until creamy.
In a small bowl combine flour, baking soda and cream of tartar. Stir.
Add flour mixture to creamed mixture and stir to combine.
Refrigerate 2-3 hours.
Heat oven to 375. Roll out dough on a floured pastry cloth and cut out shapes.
Bake for 7-8 minutes on an ungreased baking sheet.   Cool on wire racks.
Frost and decorate.....then watch them disappear!
