Heart Healthy Cold Breakfast Cereal




This cold cereal is "A Heart Healthy Breakfast!"  This idea is from one of the best.... Rip Esselstyn, he is spreading the word to eat healthy and live a long disease free life.

A combination of healthy cereals with some added fruit equals a fiber friendly, low fat way to start your day strong.  This is not a gluten free combination. For gluten free see my alternative, Amping Up Your Cold Cereal.

For your family members who don't have to be gluten free... here is the combination: 

Heart Healthy Cold Breakfast Cereal
1/4 cup old fashioned oats
1/4 cup Grape-nuts
1/4 cup Uncle Sam Cereal
1/4 cup Spoon Sized Shredded Wheat
1 Tbsp ground flax seed
1-2 Tbsp chopped walnuts
2 Tbsp raisins
1 banana
any-other fruit can be added as well
Add milk or a dairy free milk product.




Head out for a great morning!


My husband really likes this combination for breakfast, so I made a huge container leaving out the raisins and other fruit and nuts. Raisins, nuts, and other fruits are added in the bowl.



You can also make ahead a single serving to pack if needed.  I think it would make a healthy afternoon snack as another option.
